Walk by faith not by sight…really? Relearning How to Walk.

This is such a classic phrase that gets lost on people….or maybe just me.

It cannot mean, don’t have any clue where you’re going just go can it?  It cannot mean believe the unbelievable can it?  It cannot mean, that you literally close your eyes and God does it?

2 Corinthians 5:6-7 says,

6 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.

I think the better understanding isn’t to go through life unaware or with your eyes closed like Mulans grandma crossing the street with her lucky cricket.

Instead! Walk by Faith not by sight.

Paul has been challenging the Church in Corinth to have confidence in God’s promise and ultimate hope in the future despite the circumstances around you that may cause you to doubt that coming glory.  Even when we cannot fully see heaven and all its glory we trust that God will make good on his promise.

hang tight good christians, he isn’t through with us yet.

How do I know?

If God was done with me I would be dead, but the fact that I am alive proves to me that there is still life to be lived to the glory of God.

  • I think it’s not that we don’t use our sight, but that we don’t trust our sight. We trust God’s sight, and what he has told us will be true. Even when our eyes can’t pick up on it.
